THE HOLY TRINITY TRUST, ROTHWELL
The Trust was founded some years ago to assist the PCC in the repair and maintenance of the church fabric and its ornaments. The Trustees endeavour to raise money for various projects approved by the Parochial Church Council. The Hon Treasurer to the Trust is Mr Bill Roberts, 31 Kingsley Road, Rothwell and he will be glad to receive any donations people may care to give to the Trust. As the Trust is a charity, all donations can be gift aided wherever possible.
CHRISTMAS AND GREETINGS CARDS for the benefit of HOLY TRINITY TRUST are on sale from the Church. The Christmas Card depicts the Holy Family model as found in the Lady Chapel. This is A5 size on ivory card. It sells, with envelope, at £1.50 each. There is an A6 card also but without the Christmas greeting and this sells at 75p with envelope. The design is based on a water colour by Helen Cross.
A very colourful greetings card based on a water colour by Muriel Shillito depicts the Glendon Window in the Chancel. This is A6 in size and sells at 75p with envelope. Another A5 size greetings card is based on water colour paintings by Doreen Doughty, Evelyn Jones, Janet Bassett and Heather Cross. This card depicts seven pictures of various parts of our Parish Church. This is a card to treasure as well as to send. With envelope, this card sells at £1.75. There are also bookmarks on sale - two designs, one is the window depicting St Helen and the other is the eagle lectern.
We are truly grateful to Mrs Zandra Powell and members of the Thorpe Malsor Water Colour Painting Group for this wonderful contribution to raise funds for the Holy Trinity Trust.
There's only one church diary now, which you can see, if you have access to a computer, via the church web site: http://www.rothwellholytrinity.co.uk/
Click on the link on the web site that says “Church Calendar/Diary”. Everything that's going on is in the diary and there are no paper copies, because they're out of date almost as soon as they're printed. If your event is not in the diary we could be double-booked and embarrassment at the least can result. Please, if you're organising something or want to use the church, specifically ask us to put it in the diary. We shall of course hope to be on the ball and do this anyway, but nobody's perfect as I recently demonstrated by not putting an important event in! If you make a point of asking then we're less likely to miss it out.

Its good to know that 11 households ordered notes for the first four months of this year.
In this year when we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible we want to encourage everyone in a daily Bible reading habit. Do ask if you would like to see samples of notes, commentaries and Bible handbooks. During Lent we shall also have a range of special books for Lent borrowing.
BIBLE READING FELLOWSHIP
At the back of church you can order the ‘New Daylight’ daily Bible reading notes and see other BRF materials. Highly recommended is their Advent book, ‘Pilgrimage to the Manger’ by Naomi Starkey – an invitation to pilgrimage through Advent, Christmas and Epiphany. Order a copy @ £7.99.

APPEAL FOR THE
ORGAN
We hope that in January we shall have the final
go-ahead for major restoration work to take place on our pipe organ, by
Holmes & Swift, organ builders from Fakenham, Norfolk, following extensive
advice from Andrew Reid, Director of Music at the Cathedral, and with the
approval of the Diocesan Advisory Committee.
The work involves renovating
the organ, converting it to electric action, providing a new detached
console, and some improvements including new tremulant and reed stops. It
has been made possible by a wonderfully generous gift from Michael and Jean
Buswell, in memory of their mother, for this particular purpose.
We are most grateful to them.
We will still need to raise ourselves about £11,000 towards the V.A.T.
chargeable for the work.
Andrew Reid will coming over
for a special fund-raising event soon, but we make a direct appeal for
donations and offers to organise other events so that we can seize this once
in a life-time opportunity.
Any cheques can be made payable
to Rothwell Parochial Church Council, earmarked for the organ fund.
ORDER THE
ADVENT BOOK
This year the title produced by the Bible Reading
Fellowship is ‘The Incredible Journey – Christmas from Genesis to Jesus’ by
Steve Brady.
Order your copy on the list at
the back of church for £6.99.
It describes God’s incredible,
personal journey to the human race, which he loves with an amazing love,
despite its repeated rejection of him.
THE FAIR TRADE STALL is open after our 10.30 am Sunday services, with a wide range of goods.
BELLRINGERS Those interested in joining the team or learning to ring are asked to speak with Murray Coleman: 01536 761303.
CHOIR New choir members are always welcome. The Holy Trinity Choir rehearse every Thursday evening from 7 - 9pm. For more details please contact Graham Lightburn on 01858 464079, or mobile 07885 449274. Please also see the Choir page.
THE ANGELUS BELL is rung automatically 3 times a day from the Tower at Rothwell Church. This ancient and traditional call to prayer at the beginning, the middle and at the end of the day can help us in our spiritual devotions. We don't have to use a set form of words. We can use our own and take time to remember others. Those who want a copy of the traditional Angelus prayers can obtain one from the Church. They are based on the encounter in St Luke's Gospel between the Blessed Virgin and the Angel Gabriel.
CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
The PCC reviews its policy annually. Everyone working with children has to be made aware of our policies and be subject to screening by the Criminal Records Bureau. The Diocese handles all the application forms for us. Most people involved are aware of this development in Church life and co-operate happily with these sensible demands.
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
SUNDAY SCHOOL The Sunday School, for children aged 4 and upwards, meets on the 1st and 2nd Sundays in the month in the Trinity Centre. Children should be brought to the Church in time for the 10.30 am Service and will then be taken by the leaders to the Trinity Centre. They re-join their parents during the second part of the service.
We have a CRÈCHE in the south west corner of the Church. Parents need to be with the babies and little ones all through the service and make use of the toys and equipment.
Young people who wish to assist with the Sunday School and/or the Crèche as a community service for others will be warmly welcomed. Please speak with the clergy or the leaders.
CHURCH PRAYER GROUP is organised by Sheila Thurman on a Saturday morning. Those who would like to participate in this vital activity are warmly invited to do so. Sheila can be contacted on 01536 710748.
